The Youth4Soil Solution Showcase is a dynamic platform celebrating the power of youth to drive transformative change in soil health and sustainable land use. This activity emerged from the growing recognition that restoring our planet starts from the ground up, literally and metaphorically, and that young people are not just participants but frontline innovators in this mission.
This platform will spotlight youth who use soil data to drive action. The #Youth4Soil working group hosted four virtual soil solutions showcases in 2025: From winning with worms in Nepal to restoring a childhood forest in Kenya, these showcases have provided a platform for #Youth4Soil members to exhibit the soil health solutions they are implementing and fostered interaction among key stakeholders to grow those solutions.

THE RESTORATION GENERATION: If soil changes everything, who will change how we treat it?
This course is held online over two days. It is aimed at researchers and others who want to gain a perspective of how their local field experimental sites and their results fit into the current picture of soil variation at UK and, in particular global scales. It includes introductory, technical and practical online sessions.
The course is designed to give delegates:
An understanding of the strengths and weakness of soil classification and why it is linked to soil mapping.
An understanding of the structure of different classifications used in the UK and why the differ.
An understanding of the two systems used at the global level and why the FAO / IUSS World Reference Base (WRB) is most appropriate to correlate soils at the global level.
The ability and tools to identify the local WRB soil type in the field.
Knowledge of the different abilities of WRB UK soil types to support beneficial soil functions.
As part of the UNFCCC Climate Week 4 taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan, 7-11 September 2026, the Implementation Forum will take place on 9 and 10 September 2026 and will feature a series of events, including Implementation Labs, Impact Dialogues and COP Presidencies events, focused on actionable solutions, bringing together implementers and policymakers to accelerate climate action.
Rangelands support billions of people, sustain pastoral economies, conserve biodiversity and provide critical ecosystem services. Yet they remain among the world’s least consistently monitored ecosystems. A recently published paper, Toward a global monitoring framework of soil and rangeland health: Building on 20 years of the LDSF, examines this gap and explores how two decades of the Land Degradation Surveillance Framework (LDSF) could help underpin a more harmonised global approach to monitoring soil and rangeland health.
Join Leigh Winowiecki, Aida Bargués Tobella and Osvaldo E. Sala for a webinar discussing the paper, what we can learn from existing monitoring approaches, and how field data and Earth Observation can provide more robust evidence for decision-making and restoration. As we mark the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026, the conversation is especially timely: better protection and restoration of rangelands starts with understanding how these landscapes are changing.
Africa Food Systems Forum 2026, taking place from 31 August - 4 September in Kigali, Rwanda, is the world's premier forum for African agriculture and food systems, bringing together stakeholders to take practical action and share lessons that will move African food systems forward.

The session will explore how this shared infrastructure can support soil health management, scientific research, policymaking, and the development of innovative data-driven services.
The 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) will be hosted by Mongolia in its capital city, Ulaanbaatar, from 17 to 28 August 2026 under the theme Restoring Land. Restoring Hope.
The Technical Tour, taking place from August 2nd to 8th, includes visits to agricultural establishments in the main production regions and tours of leading agribusiness companies and institutions. The program features direct technical exchanges with pioneer farmers and experts, focusing on cutting-edge models, soil conservation, and resource efficiency.
