Rangelands support billions of people, sustain pastoral economies, conserve biodiversity and provide critical ecosystem services. Yet they remain among the world’s least consistently monitored ecosystems. A recently published paper, Toward a global monitoring framework of soil and rangeland health: Building on 20 years of the LDSF, examines this gap and explores how two decades of the Land Degradation Surveillance Framework (LDSF) could help underpin a more harmonised global approach to monitoring soil and rangeland health.
