Africa Food Systems Forum 2025
With only five years left to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and one year away from the Malabo Declaration's deadline, transforming African food systems stands as a paramount task, crucial for ensuring food security and fostering job opportunities particularly for youth and women on the continent.
The summit aims to catalyze this transformation through innovative science and policies, digital technologies and equipment’s, home-grown and global solutions, and scaled investments.

2025: From soil science to policy : Harnessing the biodiversity beneath our feet for a climate-resilient future
The EUROSOIL is the official meeting of the European Confederation of Soil Science Societies (ECSSS), it is among Europe’s most important Soil Sciences events and offers a fantastic opportunity for knowledge transfer among the Soil Sciences community. The EUROSOIL is held every four years and attracts a large audience of over 2500 participants who present their findings through oral and poster presentations across up to 10 parallel sessions. The event also features workshops and an exhibition of products and services aimed at raising awareness in society, facilitating the exchange of ideas and information and creating business opportunities. Additionally, the Iberian Congress of Soil Sciences (CICS) will also be held during this edition of EUROSOIL.

SoilCarbon4Climate: Temperate Regions Regional Meeting of “4 per 1000”

Hosted by the German Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture, the international “4 per 1000” Initiative is organizing the first conference on soil health and soil carbon sequestration in the temperate regions. This conference, entitled SoilCarbon4Climate, will bring together soil health experts from across the temperate climate zone, offering excellent opportunities for networking and knowledge exchange through presentations, discussions, workshops, as well as an excursion to partner farms of the German Humus Programme.

ICOBTE & ICHMET 2025: A Joint Global Conference on Biogeochemistry and Heavy Metals

The joint ICOBTE & ICHMET Conference is a forum where world-leading scientists in the field of trace elements and heavy metals in the environment present their latest research, insights, and cutting-edge technologies. IUCN World Conservation Congress | CA4SH Side Event
This session will engage diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, researchers, the private sector, youth, and farming communities to address the socio-economic, policy, and practical aspects of soil health. It will showcase innovative tools, inclusive financing mechanisms, policy cohesion, and effective on-the-ground practices that embed soil health into conservation strategies. The discussion will focus on holistic, evidence-based frameworks that prioritise equity and multi-stakeholder action, providing clear recommendations for scaling up soil health efforts to enhance conservation, climate resilience, and land restoration.

The Soil Re-Union fosters connections among participants across diverse regions and research disciplines. UNFSS Side Event | From Riyadh to Mongolia: Bridging Action for Agroecology and Soil Health to Transform Food Systems
The session will highlight the potential of agroecology and soil health as cross-cutting enablers of climate, biodiversity, land, and food systems goals. It will showcase country experiences and inclusive approaches to strengthen policy coherence, scale implementation, and support investment in integrated solutions. Discussions will build on a joint outcome-based policy brief and inform a youth-led statement, outlining priorities and practical entry points to advance transformation through the Riyadh Action Agenda. The session will foster cross-sector collaboration and shared commitment toward UNCCD COP17 and beyond.

UNFSS Side Event | Grounding Food Systems Transformation inSoil Health: Evidence and Cross-Sectoral Action
The session will build a shared understanding of practical tools, approaches, and success factors to implement and monitor soil health at scale. It will strengthen multi-stakeholder collaboration—bringing together governments, scientists, farmers, Indigenous Peoples, youth, scientists, and the private sector—and generate co-created recommendations to integrate soil health into national and global policy and investment strategies. Discussions will highlight the role of soil data in driving financial investment and scaling solutions. The session will also inform a youth-led statement on soil health and explore mechanisms to integrate young professionals into future actions.

United Nations Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4)
The 2nd UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) will take place from July 27–29, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, co-hosted by Ethiopia and Italy. As we approach four years since the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit (UNFSS), UNFSS+4 will provide a platform for reflecting on progress, strengthening collaboration, and unlocking finance and investments to accelerate food systems transformation.

Strengthening National Governance to Accelerate Food Systems Transformation
This webinar will explore how national governance can be transformed to deliver systemic, inclusive, and rights-based food systems policies. It will examine key dimensions such as cross-sectoral policy integration, institutional capacity, local government empowerment, rights-based frameworks, evidence-based decision-making, and sustainable financing.

The Road to COP30: What Mattered at the Subsidiary Bodies (SB) 62 in Bonn?
The 62nd session of the Subsidiary Bodies — also known as UNFCCC’s Bonn Climate Change Conference — serves as a halfway point between COP 29 in Baku and COP 30 in Belém. A significant focus will be on the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) for climate finance, building upon the foundation laid at COP29, set to support developing countries in their climate action effort.
This session will highlight the main takeaways from SB62 while briefly reflecting on past policy fora engagements and showcasing a short recap of YPARD’s policy engagements as MGCY over the last few months. The session will look ahead at COP30, with an eye on key political moments preceding: the Pre-COPs, HLPF, UNFSS+4 and others.

The Latin American and Caribbean Soil Carbon Research Symposium (LAC Soil Carbon)

During the Bonn Climate Change Conference (SB62), the Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH) is officially launching its CA4SH Soil Action Hubs —dynamic, decentralized structures designed to catalyze locally led soil health action. These hubs will foster collaboration, advance inclusive knowledge exchange, and drive coordinated, context-specific solutions. However, land degradation negatively impacts over 3.2 billion people globally. This webinar will highlight the critical role of healthy soil for ecosystem restoration, climate adaptation and mitigation, biodiversity, and food and nutrition security, as well as advancements in monitoring soil health using field assessments, data analytics, Earth Observation, and citizen science.
This webinar is a joint initiative of the Vision for Adapted Crops and Soils (VACS) and CA4SH, exploring the role of multi-stakeholder action in addressing financing, implementation, and knowledge barriers to scaling soil health solutions.

Youth action in food systems through legally binding mechanisms: the case of the Rio Conventions
The Preparatory Youth Conference for UNFSS+4 serves as a platform to galvanize the power of youth in addressing critical challenges in global food systems. It aims to build momentum toward sustainable, equitable, and resilient food systems through youth-led initiatives, and to mobilize youth to collaborate with decision-makers on actionable strategies.
The session will provide basic knowledge on how food systems are discussed in multilateral environmental treaties—particularly the Rio Conventions (UNFCCC, UNCBD, UNCCD)—and how youth engage in these spaces through officially recognized mechanisms like YOUNGO, GYBN, and the UNCCD Youth Caucus. Youth leaders will share their experiences, building common knowledge through comparative dialogue.

11th European Regions for Innovation in Agriculture, Food and Forestry Annual Conference
The ERIAFF members from the Region of Catalonia, Spain, are delighted to invite all network members to the 11th Annual ERIAFF Conference, taking place in the city of Vic from 7th to 9th April 2025.
This year’s theme, “Transformative Innovation: Circular Bioeconomy for Rural Development and Resilient Landscapes” invites regional policymakers, agri-food and forestry developers, as well as researchers to engage in discussions on resilience and the bioeconomy in Europe.

In today’s world, youth possess unparalleled enthusiasm and innovative ideas crucial for driving meaningful change. This is extremely important especially since only 17 per cent of the SDG targets are on track according to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2024 report. The #Youth4Soil Solutions Showcase aims to harness the potential of young minds in soil health advocacy, showcasing their contributions to attract donors, enhance visibility and facilitate learning through on-the-ground experiences. This event will also highlight the burgeoning youth and restoration movement, positioning young advocates as key players in the global soil health dialogue.

First Conference on Soil Health, Human Health, and Food Security
The first national conference on "Soil Health, Human Health, and Food Security" with the slogan "Soil Health: The Key to Human Health and Food Security" will be held in person and virtuallly at Shahed University.
The conference aims to create interdisciplinary solidarity between experts in soil science, agriculture, medicine, basic sciences, and other related fields, seeking to raise awareness and attention to the vital role of soil in ensuring human health and food security.

Presenting the latest findings and experiences of professors, students, experts, and activists in the areas of the conference's themes can play an important role in raising awareness about maintaining and improving soil health, food security, and human health.

4th Annual Meeting of the International Network on Soil Biodiversity (NETSOB)
The International Network on Soil Biodiversity (NETSOB) was established in December 2021 to promote the sustainable use and conservation of soil biodiversity and to bring experts in this field and existing initiatives together to form the human talent that contributes to the implementation of the Global Soil Biodiversity Observatory (GLOSOB). NETSOB is one of the FAO/Global Soil Partnership Technical Networks.

Webinar | The Global Fertilizer and Soil Health Challenge: Advancing the soil health agenda in Kenya and Tanzania through soil knowledge exchange
In 2024, the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) engaged Varda and CIFOR-ICRAF in a pilot initiative aimed at laying the groundwork to establish a collaborative and conducive framework to expand soil data, information, and knowledge availability in two countries: Kenya and Tanzania. The initiative identifies pathways to further advance and scale the exchange of data, information, and knowledge on soil among the research community, government actors and policy makers, private companies, and farmers across East Africa. The results of the pilot initiative will inform the way forward for scaling soil information systems across the African continent.
The initiative included a survey of existing soil health initiatives (27 Aug-30 Oct, 2024), two in-country workshops to develop user cases and validate the results of the survey (22-23 Oct, 2024 in Kenya; 24-25 Oct, 2024 in Tanzania), and a final analysis of the pilot results to document and map existing initiatives and outputs related to soil data and information service providers and users in Kenya and Tanzania to understand the current landscape and identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and integration (Jan 2025).
This webinar will present the results of the pilot, and offer the opportunity for key stakeholders to reflect and map the way forward for SISs in Africa.

Soil Health Masterclass
Two innovative Australian farmers, Grant Sims and Tom Robinson join forces with Joel Williams for a comprehensive, hands-on masterclass exploring the principles and practice of soil health, regenerative and biological farming. This immersive workshop is designed for farmers, ranchers, agronomists and practitioners looking to deepen their knowledge of soil and plant health, crop management, and sustainable practices for building resilient farm systems. The course will be particularly applied with a focus on the practical implementation of soil health strategies with regular question/discussion time throughout the days.
