The Mandla Model | Promotion of landscape-based natural farming in forest fringe areas: A Case Study
In Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, the ProSoil project has been working on Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Natural Farming interventions with its key implementation partner, Foundation for Ecological Security (FES).
In addition, the project is also working closely with stakeholders such as the Ministry of Rural Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (MoAFW), Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (MPSRLM), Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAYNRLM), NGOs, Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), State Agricultural University (JNKVV) and other research institutions.
Derived from decades of learnings from on-ground interventions in Madhya Pradesh, ProSoil project has created an integrated landscape approach called the ‘The Mandla Model’ to scale up Natural Farming. This document details the evolution of this approach and learnings that can be applicable in scaling up on Natural Farming practices in other locations within the country.
