CA4SH Partner and Steering Committee Meetings | September 2025

CA4SH was launched at the UN Food Systems Summit in 2021 and continues to grow, with over 300 members including government, NGOs, the private sector, research institutions, and youth-led organizations. The main goal of the Coalition is to improve soil health globally by addressing critical implementation, monitoring, policy, and public and private investment barriers that constrain the adoption and scaling of healthy soil practices. Central to this approach is experience and opportunity sharing, so on 8 and 9 September 2025, the CA4SH SteerCo and CA4SH Partners met to share updates and chart a way forward for the Coalition.

The main responsibilities of the CA4SH SteerCo are to 1) provide guidance and strategic direction for CA4SH, and 2) help build partnerships and identify opportunities for collaboration. As this was the second SteerCo meeting of 2025, the discussion included reflecting on the Coalition’s progress so far this year, and identifying strategic next steps toward the UNFCCC COP30 this year and beyond.

Main Reflections from the Steering Committee Meeting:

  1. Target outreach to expand membership

  2. Identify SMART targets to report progress and results

  3. Move beyond global advocacy to implementation on the ground

  4. Mobilize resources and partnerships

One of the main reflections from the SteerCo meeting included the need to set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound (SMART) goals to track the progress and impact of the Coalition’s work in line with our conceptual framework. We look forward to sharing the results of this exercise for feedback from the Coalition’s wider partner base, and encourage partners to share any preliminary ideas with the Secretariat by reaching out to communications@coalitionforsoilhealth.org!
